A to B
The A to B Drill Was first introduced to the golfing world back in 1992 when, together with Jeffrey Burr Johnson and a team of professionals in Melbourne, tested this Drill on their students and discovered how effective it was at removing the slice, increasing the compression and distance on the ball, and doing it with much less stress on the body.
The concept that Golf is a two target game the balls target is the flag or the middle of the Fairway while the club heads target is the ball.
In 1995 Golf Digest USA featured this Drill as the Cover Story for their Masters issue.
Today the A to B Drill stands the test of time and delivers what it promises, removes the slice, increases the distance of your shots, and with less strain on the body.

1.The concept of A to B is that A is at the top of the backswing and B is the golf ball with the direction of the hit down and out through the golf ball.
2.The golfer should be attempting to throw the club head into the back of the ball confidently as if attempting to drive the golf ball deep into ground.
3.As the golfer compresses the ball, the club face squares to the ball. The ball flies up and to the ball’s target, while the momentum of the swing (hit) continues on to a follow through and finish, ideally in a nice balanced position.
4.The more positively the golfer hits down into the golf ball the better the golf ball is compressed which in turn causes it to fly straight and true to its target.
Purpose
To learn the correct hand action that brings the club in line with the lead arm producing powerful straight shots.
Training Emphasis
Increase power, consistency and control.
Exercise
With a yardstick or golf club:
1. Take you grip and stance
2. Go to the top of your backswing
3. Drill the hand action uncocking the wrists, so the yardstick or club comes into line with the lead arm
4. Thumbs go down
5. The first step is with the hands and arms and then with hands arms and hips.
6. When you introduce the hips, allow the hips to rotate right from the top of the backswing.
7. Throw the club A to B directly at the ball as per the pictures above.
