Lesson of the Week
KTG Basic Module 7 Full Swing The Finish
One of the greatest lessons I ever received was from Graham Campbell, an Australian PGA Professional at the start of my PGA Tour career in Australia and New Zealand.
I was about to fly to New Zealand to play in my second PGA Tour Event when I asked him to give me a lesson. Graham who had played with Gary Player at the beginning of his career was a very experienced player and teacher and the lesson consisted of him helping me find my best-balanced finish position for the golf swing from short irons through to the driver.
His advice was to picture the finish of every shot I was to play and hold the finish until the ball stopped on the fairway or green. With this one simple thought, I flew off to New Zealand. Over the next 4 weeks, I finished 11th, 9th, 6th, and 18th and was low score and lead the New Zealand Open until the last few holes of play.
I could not have wished for a better start into Professional Golf (except maybe to win a Tournament or 2) and it was know how to finish and to focus on this idea of “finishing in balance on every shot” that helped me to remain calm and to keep the whole process very simple.
I hope this lesson on “The Finish” has similar results for you.
